  • cup vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Maple Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 Tbsps milk
  • 1 Tbsp pure maple syrup
  • ¼ tsp maple extract can subsitute vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉/180℃. Spray a 13×9 inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  • Add the cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and sour cream to a large bowl and beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  • Add the brown sugar, pecans, and ground cinnamon to a small bowl and mix to combine.
  • Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over the batter. Pour the remaining batter evenly over the pecan mixture and use a spatula to gently spread the cake batter over the filling.
  • Place the cake in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove the pan from the oven and place on a cooling rack.

Make the Glaze

  • In a small bowl, stir together the powdered sugar, milk, maple syrup, and maple extract. If your glaze is too stiff, add more milk.
  • Use a fork to poke holes over the entire surface of the warm cake and carefully pour and spread the glaze over the cake. Let the cake cool completely before serving.
