- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 cup of sour cream
- 1 packet of onion soup mix
- ½ shredded cheddar cheese
- Parsley for topping optional
Preheat the oven to 375°F and set a 9x13 baking dish to the side. In a large bowl add the chicken breasts, salt, pepper and onion powder, stir until the seasoning is coated all over.
Add the oil to a large skillet and over a medium to high heat sear the chicken breasts, 3 minutes on each side. Or until golden brown on each side. In a small bowl add the sour cream and onion soup packet. Stir to combine.
Place the browned chicken in the baking dish and spread the sour cream mixture all over top of the chicken. Sprinkle the cheddar cheese all over top of them as well.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the oven for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes remove the foil and cook for another 5 minutes.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle parsley on top. (Optional) Serve over mashed potatoes and enjoy!
- Store in an airtight container on the counter for 2-3 days.
- You are not looking to cook the chicken in the pan, only to get color on it.
- Drizzle the sauce from the bottom of the baking dish all over top when plating for extra flavor.
